篇一:
Eugenie Grandet was written by Balzac. This book demonstrates us a vivid story of a girl whose life is blighted by her father’s hysterical greed. Eugenie’s father is a rich man by doing some disgraced business, and he is money worship that he often left himself in a back room and appreciated money for a long time. Everything in his family is distributed by himself, even a candle or some sugar. He had a servant, who had worked for thirty years, but she never received some presents from Grandet, except an old watch. In addition, he gives his daughter and wife just a little allowance. What’s more, with so much money, he refused to help his bankrupt relative. What a cold blood person! And when the New Year was coming, he asked his daughter to put out all her gold that he gave her before and wanted to admire it routinely. To his surprise, Eugenie had given all of her belonging to her bankrupt cousin. It really annoyed Grandet and after that he put Eugenie up. In order to collect money, he lost human nature to some extent.
Grandet ‘s nature of crazing for money won over his family. Comparing with grandet, Eugenie was so warm-hearted that she not only helped her in-troubled cousin but also did a lot of public welfare events. She considered money as a method for helping others. Eugenie and her father in this book are far different by comparing each other, and through this way, they are much prominent. Although Eugenie was kind, her cousin still gave up her and pursued a nobleman’s daughter for money. The value concept of his cousin, who was self-fish, was far away from hers.
From this book, a phenomenon of money worship comes out. From the Oxford English dictionary, we know that the word “money” has two definitions: 1. Means of payment, especially coins and banknotes, given and accepted in buying and selling Wealth; total value of somebody’s property. However, in modern American society, money doesn’t just mean cash, dollar bills and coins. The United States is becoming a cashless society quickly. Nowadays, checks and credits cards work just as well as “real money”。 This “plastic money” allows a person spending free. But it also gets them into a lot of debts. Just for so many types of “money” and different usages, to some extent, the modern Americans are changing their outlook on money. They make most of Americans think that money is not all, but it is most of all.
Can money buy happiness? Many Americans think so. Americans believe life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness have a certain connection. And what does the pursuit of happiness mean? For many, it means pursuing money. In the United States, not all Americans are rich, but most concern about money. Money is a main part in modern American life. The American’s outlook on money decides on what kind of life they want to have.
As far as I am concerned, we should regard earning money as a method for a better life but not just being infatuated with it. If I were Grandet, I will finance the people who were in trouble within my competence, even not to mention my relatives. And I would work hard to earn enough money to provide a better living condition for my dear families rather than keep them for appreciation. This book satirizes money worship, and I am also against blind pursuing money. In our life, there are many other things that are much more important than money, such as a good hobby, our friends and families and so on. Although sometimes money can bring us authority and some other things we want, it can not always bring us happiness. Money is powerless in some of the field.
篇二:
In our life, when speaking of selfish, cold, stingy always referred to a short and fat old man. He is “Grandet” created by Balzac in his novel <Eugenie Grandet>.
This is a classical story of a girl whose life is blighted by her father’s hysterical greed. Eugenie’s father is the representative of greed and money. In order to collect money he lost human nature. Miss Eugenie is a kind and humane girl. Both her mother and herself considered money as a method for helping others. She used money to help those who need it. Charles is Eugenie’s cousin who was from a rich family but his father went bankrupt so he had to go to business abroad. He was from humane, pure to self-fish. He gave up his true love, and pursued a nobleman’s daughter.
In my thought, Money can not buy happiness . Even if has a lot of money, finally, we had to leave them and left alone. Money is only a part of the relationship between people. Love is priceless, cannot be measured by money.
篇三:
"Eugenie Grandet," author Balzac is the nineteenth Century French great realistic writer, founder of the European critical realism literature and outstanding representative. His life is composed of 96 ministers, middle and short stories and essays, which are always called "human comedy". Which stands as "Eugenie Grandet -", "high old man". Over the past 100 years, his works have spread all over the world, and have a great influence on the development of world literature and the progress of human beings. The greatest achievement of the novel is the model of a miser. Balzac has chosen a series of typical details to show his miserly character.
Eugenie is the daughter of a humble family, did not see the world rural women, this day with his father's orders obedient woman, this woman can only know it, in order to Charles against his cousin money supreme principle, she is how the courage to make all of this? I think not not know his father's response to her to do this all the time, but she don't care, for love, she is willing to bear all the consequences, in the love of that moment, she decided to crazy, just for one of her own Charles devoid of gratitude, only money, family take in, can not end as she hoped, I don't want her to marry Charles that man, he is not worthy of her, she did not deserve the pure and noble love, but I can't say who should get Eugenie's love, like a huge area of Anjou, no one a man can be dignified and imposing worthy Eugenie, compared with this, the appearance is not so delicate wild woman, the heart is noble and strong no one can understand, with lotus metaphor her a little bit Well, the silt but don't dye, just before her release liner as appropriate, Eugenie a grain of dust, the light falls on the earth is not secular rendering, because she was born in a family full of mercenary taste, life in full with village, her life is doomed to not by understanding and walk alone.
Balzac's Mr. Grandet this book is vividly depicted in the image, and he is in literary works four miser image of his greed, cunning, stingy, money is everything to him. But there's a place for us to learn. His greed and miser are mainly manifested in several things. Every day he would personally eat, distribution of food, cut the bread into thin slices, each only a few tablets; his servant Nanong hard for decades to do work for him, and for only the dozens of francs, less money is even, Mr. Grandet regarded her as a dog, let her sleep at the end of the corridor, she slept while the porter, he will be worth millions, for her daughter case-dough cousin and daughter gave her confinement in Former friends become enemies with each other., attic, just give her water and bread; I hate the most is his own brother, France * Ge Lang cash to borrow money from him when he was completely indifferent, watched the younger brother went bankrupt and he wanted to use Dutch act, the death of a brother to make a pen. Such a person like him the sentenced to death, even so, the society also set relatives regardless of life or death wish they can wake up, Grandet admittedly not devoutly religious after reading this book, but due to the greed for money, so he naturally hopes still have a super dust off the world he will receive. There, he can have yellow is dazzling gold to continue, even can continue to take the ingenious use unscrupulous divisive tactics. As long as we know gelangtai miser nature, not for him to move with the "desecration of religious last words" contradictions between the two but very much puzzled. At this time, Christianity advocated by the "Kingdom of heaven" is precisely in line with Grandet's mind, therefore, although he is not willing to make sacrifices and teachings of repentance, but hope that religion is indeed the "Kingdom of heaven". In other words, in the eyes of Grandet, the existence of religion, is due to his needs.
Spiritual life and physical life are like breathing and breathing: the soul should absorb the feelings of another soul to enrich itself, and then send it back to the family with richer emotions. If there is no such wonderful relationship between man and man, there is no life in the heart: it lacks air, it will suffer, and it wilt.
